The Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Virtual Easter Service

“Love Never Fails” is one of my favourite ancient wisdoms, but one that I feel we need reminding of from time to time.

This Easter Service celebrated what is best about Bedfordshire; “Our people, diverse and beautiful”.
I had the privilege to read an excerpt from “The Hill We Climb”, the poem by Amanda Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history. A young, black female poet and activist whose work focuses on oppression, feminism, race, marginalisation, and the African diaspora.  How could I not be inspired by her work?
When the Lord-Lieutenant asked me to read this poem for this service, she said to me, “It’s perfect for the moment”.  How true that is.  The service not only celebrated the great community spirit of Bedfordshire, but I felt it was underpinned by the love and gratitude of our Lord Lieutenant.  Thanking each member of the Bedfordshire community for all that they have done to not only lift up others but also herself.  What a beautiful soul and amazing human being?
I found this service was truly beautiful, so I am sharing it with you, and in celebration of our truly diverse nature,  May I wish you Happy Easter, Happy Astarte, Happy Ostara, Happy Spring!
