Door 2: The Strong Tree
A mighty tree stands tall, its roots deep in courage and support. It survived fierce storms and grows stronger every day. The leaves whisper, “You endured, and you are still here—stronger than ever.” Around the tree, small saplings grow—symbols of new hopes and fresh starts. You can feel the power of resilience pulsing through the earth, urging you to keep growing and helping others do the same.
Survivor Poem – Name Myself
Let’ talk about
Brothers and sisters
No scratch that
Lets talk about the misters
Who are you
To tell us how to act
Rather listen to rumours
Than believe the facts
Let me tell you
Who we are
Sister in the making
We can take you far
You have to stop hating
We don’t need your car
We have our own stats
House, money, mobile
We don’t wear plaits
Cos we’re hating
On our own self
Don’t know who we are
It’s our freedom of expression
Not open to interpretation
By ignorant fools
Who don’t have no vision
Don’t tell us how
Most girls act
Cos we already know
Just listen to this fact
It’s our uniqueness
That attracted you
Our charisma
That excited you
Our wisdom
That enthralled you
Our energy
That inspired you
Our sassiness
That gripped you
And it was our love
That made you sprung
So tell me
Why do you call us “the one”
Then try to change us
And end up with none
Let me tell you
Who I am
Don’t try to perceive me
Cos you don’t have the clout
I set aside your labels
Cos I know what I’m about
And if you don’t have a clue
Then, forget you
Cos you aint the only brother
And I can find myself a lover
Who knows I’m not a ‘most girl’
There is only one of me in the world
Don’t change what is perfect
So you can join in with the worship
Of an imaginary female
Who isn’t worth the retail
We aint open
To interpretation
Hell we made this nation
Everything you are
You learnt at your mama’s knee
Tell me how to act?
Oh baby, please!
Look in the mirror
Then you’ll see the trouble
The buck falls at your feet
You’re the one who needs to humble
Your self before us
And we’ll give you the glory
Not that ignorant fool
Telling you his story
There would be no divide
If you opened your eyes wide
And looked straight at the truth
That we are part of you
Sharing the same soul
We’re the other half of your whole
This world would be full of wonder
If you misters didn’t blunder
Didn’t always play
Because you know no other way
And try to big up your chest
As if you know best
The truth of the matter
Is that you are our brother
And we put up
With your faults
When you’re being loud
Saying sisters are trouble
When it’s the other way round
Us together could be beautiful
If you treat us as equals
Listen to me now
Cos there won’t be a sequel
Start off with friendship
Set aside the game
Don’t always assume
That we will bring you pain
Bringing together our people
Is my only aim
And it will work if we try
And don’t proportion blame
And forget the misconception
That all sisters are the same
And if you’re still not convinced
Then honey, you need to
