The Day I Turned Towards Myself
It did not look heroic.
No banners,
no fireworks,
no perfect words.
It was a quiet morning
when I noticed
the smallest thing:
my heart was still beating.
I realised
I had survived
every night I thought I wouldn’t.
So I did one brave,
ordinary thing:
I turned towards myself.
I made a cup of tea.
I told the truth to a friend.
I wrote my story
in my own handwriting.
This is how freedom begins:
not with one giant step,
but with many small choices
to be on my own side.
If you are reading this,
you have already started.
You are here.
You are still turning
towards yourself.
That is power.
